Village of Bellport Building Department

The Village of Bellport Building Department serves the community by providing for the health, safety and welfare of the public.

The Building Department is responsible for:

  • Reviewing all construction projects and issuing building permits
  • Conducting building inspections
  • Zoning Compliance
  • Complaints
  • Fire/Life Safety Inspection
  • Site Plans (Planning Board)
  • Subdivisions (Planning Board)
  • Area and Use Variances, Certificates of Existing Use and Code Interpretations (Zoning Board of Appeals)

The Building Department will do its best to guide residents and business owners through the process of obtaining a building permit. Please note that all appropriate documents must be submitted and reviewed by the Building Department prior to the Village issuing a building permit.

On February 26, 2018 the Village of Bellport Board of Trustees enacted a new local law regulating the rental of residences in the Village. This ordinance LOCAL LAW RENTAL REGISTRATION …..02.26.2018 covers ALL rentals, regardless of where the residence is located or the duration of the rental.

All rentals must be registered with the Village. The fee to register is $250 and the registration is good for 2 years. For Rental Registration Form, please call Village Hall. Please be reminded that as per the Local Law Rental Registration that the owner’s ID become invalid during the duration of timing renting house.

Residents who rent their homes for short periods of time during the peak summer period, which is from Saturday, (weekend of Memorial Day) to Monday, (Labor Day), are limited to 5 rentals. Guests who rent short term will be required to obtain an ID card from Village Hall at the cost of $400.00 (2 adults and 3 children 12 and under, an additional 75.00 per person staying in dwelling) and will pay resident rates to use the amenities.
