At the Bellport Country Club, tennis can be a competitive sport, a passion, an exercise, a social event, or a mixer – but most importantly, it is a game that can be learned and enjoyed at any level and any at any age. It can be whatever you want it to be, so come join us at the Bellport Country Club.

PLEASE NOTE that drinking water and ice are available at the tennis court bottle filling station. However, to encourage recycling we ask that all players equip themselves with reusable water bottles and advise their guests of our policy.

Court bookings consist of 1 1/2 hour time slots starting at 7:00 am and will run thoughout the day.

The Facility

The Tennis Center is located at the Bellport Country Club just south of South Country Road on the north side of the Golf Course. The facility is managed by Louis Nunez who sees to it that our five Har-Tru Courts are always well maintained. Nunez, who is USPTA certified & 10 & under certified, provides tennis instruction and runs a very successful Junior Development Program. In addition, he coordinates a full schedule of events throughout the summer for the benefit of the membership, including special event social mixers, total tennis clinics, men’s and ladies’ nights, interclub matches as well as annual member tournaments. Membership

  • Full season memberships are available at the Village Hall for both Village Residents and Non-Residents.
  • Residents must provide proper identification upon application.
  • Members are entitled to free court time throughout the season.
  • Court time will be limited during scheduled tournaments and Round Robins. It will be suspended Junior Development sessions and Kid’s Camp on Tuesdays at 11 am during the month of July only.

Bellport Village Residents are welcome to use the tennis courts whenever a court is available all seven days of the week between the hours of 7:00 am and dusk. Prior to coming down to play, Resident Non-Members should call the club at (631) 776-0859 to determine if a court is available. Alternatively, they can reserve (hold) an available tennis court after 12 pm, but no more than four hours in advance.

Hourly Rates from 8:00 am to 11:30 am are $21.00 per player; after 12 pm the rate drops to $12.00 per player.

All players, including Residents, must check in at the Tennis Office prior to entering onto the courts. Residents must bring proper Village IDs to show to the Staff or they will not be allowed on the courts. Please adhere to our dress code, which calls for appropriate tennis attire (no tank tops), including smooth soled sneakers (no running sneakers allowed).

Season:

Full Service:  Provided every day between June 1st and Labor Day, and on weekends only during May and September.

Guests

Each member may invite no more than one guest during prime time. A specific Guest can play no more than twice per month.

All players must be checked in by the Court Attendant prior to play. Court fees must be paid prior to play.

Court Reservations

Bellport Tennis utilizes the Chelsea Online Booking System to reserve its courts and we encourage all members to use it. Courts can be booked directly no more than two days in advance. However, court requests can be made 14 days in advance using the online booking system. All requests are processed by Chelsea which notifies members of their court assignments via emails around 10:00 am two days prior to the date of play.  If your group doesn’t receive a court assignment, then the courts are full and you were bumped.  For those members who don’t have computer access, courts can be booked by calling the Tennis Center at (631) 776-0859 at any time after 8:45 am.  For more information regarding access to the online booking system, please ask the Court Attendant.

  • Court Time: 1 1/2 hours maximum (unless a court is available).
  • Junior members cannot book a court more than one hour in advance during prime time unless they play with an Adult member.
  • Court is forfeited after 10 minutes..
  • Habitual no shows will lose sign up privileges.

TOURNAMENTS: We follow USTA Guidelines

  • Sanctioned tournaments will be scheduled starting in July.
  • Except for open tournaments, only Members will be allowed to participate in Sanctioned Tournaments.
  • However, at the discretion of the Tennis Commission and in conjunction with the Tennis Director, participation of Non-Members will be considered for Junior Development Personnel and Court Attendants if players are needed to “fill out a draw”.
  • Entry fees will be charged for Tournaments. The amount will be posted on the sign up sheet.

Bellport Junior Development Program

The Village of Bellport Tennis Center offers a tennis instruction program for children called Quickstart. Quickstart Tennis is an exciting play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size.

Red Ball (Ages 5-7) Beginner

Introduction to tennis including basic grips, strokes, footwork and form. Introduction to various court games using the latest teaching aids, including the new Quickstart Program.

Goals: Basic coordination, fun, introduction to tennis
Format: USTA QuickStart Tennis
QuickStart is a scaled-down format of tennis using smaller courts, slower balls, and shorter racquets to help young players learn the game in a fun, age-appropriate way.

– Athletic skills: running, jumping, balancing, throwing
– Racquet skills: tap-ups, tap-downs, ball rolling
– Hand-eye coordination drills
– Simple rallying and tracking
– Basic strokes: forehand, backhand
– Intro to scoring (1-2-3-4 game style)

Green Ball (Ages 8-10) Intermediate

Review of basics with a concentration on stroke development and hitting on the move.  Grouped by experience.

-Full swing strokes with spin
-Serve with directional intent
-Return of serve
-Point construction basics (open court, consistency)

Yellow Ball (Ages 11-18) Intermediate to Advanced

More concentration on conditioning, instruction and drills.  Instruction will also focus on stroke analysis, game play and singles & doubles strategy. Placement by ability and experience.

The first of the six weekly sessions start on  Monday, July 6, 2026 and the last session ends on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Fridays are reserved for rain makeup.
