PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that should the Executive Order suspending New York Open Meetings Law not be extended past October 4, 2020, the Village of Bellport Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 7 pm in the Bellport Community Center, 4 Bell Street, Bellport, NY to consider the following application. If the suspension of the New York State Open Meetings Law is extended past the above referenced date, the meeting will be streamed live over the internet and interested parties can find the link at www.bellportvillageny.gov.
Guy and Lisa Metcalfe, 13 Thornhedge Road, Bellport, NY are seeking the following variances to construct a 420 square foot pool house, a 248 square foot pergola and a 248 square foot deck in the front yard of an existing single-family dwelling;
In addition to any other requirements set forth in this chapter, the area restrictions applicable to any property located in the Residence “AA” District shall be the same as those set forth in Article IV, Division 2 of this chapter – Residence “A” District.
Sec. 21-1. – Definitions.
Pergola. An accessory building whose use is primarily for summer time relaxation. In addition to the prohibitions contained in “accessory buildings”, a pergola shall not have insulation. A pergola without a roof or having a trellis type roof covering that allows the elements inside, shall be considered an accessory structure. A pergola that is considered an accessory structure shall continue to be so even if the pergola is attached to the principal dwelling or an accessory building. The term “pergola” shall also include the term “arbor”.
Proposed: 248 Square foot pergola in front yard
Pool house. An accessory building used as an accessory to a private pool. No pool house shall be any larger than three hundred (300) square feet. The term “pool house” shall include the term “cabana”.
Proposed: 420 square foot pool house
Section 21-226 Accessory Buildings and Structures
(b) In the Residence “A” District, unless addressed specifically elsewhere in this chapter, all accessory structures must be located in the rear yard of a lot and be setback at least fifteen (15) feet from all property lines. No structures and/or accessory structure shall exceed fifteen (15) feet in height.
Proposed: 420 square foot pool house, 248 square foot pergola and 248 square foot deck located in the front yard.
The Suffolk County Tax Map number is 0202-13-3-1. The property is in the “AA” residence district. All persons with an interest may attend and will be heard. The property The Community Center is handicapped accessible.
