Help Wanted: Part-Time Code Enforcement Officers
The Village of Bellport is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as part-time Code Enforcement Officers. This is a great opportunity for someone who is knowledgeable about local laws and regulations and is passionate about maintaining the safety and aesthetic integrity of our community.
Some of the Responsibilities shall include:
- Conduct inspections of properties to ensure compliance with Village codes and ordinances.
- Investigate and respond to citizen complaints regarding code violations (e.g., zoning, property maintenance, sanitation, etc.).
- Document violations accurately, issue notices, and prepare reports.
- Communicate effectively with residents and business owners to explain code requirements and find solutions.
- Work closely with other Village departments as needed.
- Assist with making public events safe.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of municipal codes, laws, and enforcement procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- A valid New York State driver’s license.
- Experience in code enforcement, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
This is a part-time position with flexible hours, approximately 15-20 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.
