Letter to Bellport Village Residents Regarding Long Island Community Hospital

During this stressful time that the Coronavirus has brought to all communities, it is very important to remain calm and practice social distancing.  As a community it is very uplifting to learn about how Bellport Residents are reaching out to neighbors to lend a helping hand when needed.

In health crisis, the Long Island Community Hospital has always been a source of strength for our community. Now, this old friend needs our help. The Long Island Community Hospital and all the Doctors, Nurses and Staff are being asked to provide healthcare that is needed under normal conditions, but also for those that arrive at the hospital with the COVID-19 virus.

The hospital needs personnel protective equipment (PPE) to keep the staff safe, meds and ventilators for the patients. The Long Island Community Hospital needs our financial support now.

Please see the letter below from Residents Doctor Richard and Chantal Berman.  At the end of their letter, there is a link that you can click on to make a donation.

Dear Friends,

Chantal and I thank you all for supporting Long Island Community Hospital and it’s courageous medical, nursing, support staff and first responders as they battle this terrible pandemic. We need to help and protect them. This takes money and lots of it.

Yesterday there were approximately 100 COVID-19 patients with 50 on ventilators taking up more than half of all beds and all ICU beds. This coming week will be challenging. The support you are giving goes directly to supporting the staff and obtaining medicine, supplies and equipment needed urgently.

Please let’s all of us join together, NY’ers and locals, and help our hospital save lives.

Please donate generously and pass this email on to your friends and family.

I have just learned that a very generous benefactor has started a matching program of up to $500,000 for donations starting today.

For those of you who have not yet given please help LICH take full advantage this very generous match. Let’s all pull together!

Thanks again, keep safe.

Dr. Richard and Chantal Berman
